Machine PrecisionGoverning Mathematical Formula:
Power = ½ · ρ · A · v³ · Cp · η | Max Betz Limit Cp = 16/27 ≈ 59.3%
Step-by-Step Mathematical Derivation
1
Velocity Conversion to Metric
v = 13.5 mph × 0.44704 = 6.035 m/s.
2
Rotor Swept Area
A = π · (d / 2)² = π · 1.6² = 8.042 m².
3
Kinetic Energy Flow Rate
P_wind = ½ · ρ · A · v³, where air density ρ = 1.225 kg/m³. At 6.035 m/s: ½ × 1.225 × 8.042 × 6.035³ = 1,083.5 Watts.
4
Electrical Power Harvest
P_elec = P_wind × Cp × η_gen = 1,083.5 × 0.38 × 0.88 = 362.3 Watts. Daily yield = 362.3W × 24h = 8.7 kWh.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Betz Limit?
Albert Betz proved in 1919 that no wind turbine can capture more than 16/27 (59.3%) of the kinetic energy in wind. If a rotor attempted to capture 100%, the air behind it would stop completely, preventing new incoming wind from flowing through the blades.
Why does power increase with the cube of wind speed (v³)?
Because kinetic energy is proportional to v² (½mv²), and the mass flow rate of air passing through the rotor each second is proportional to v (m = ρAv). Combining them gives power proportional to v³.
